Understanding Milling wheat Prices
Milling wheat is steadier than perishable produce because it stores well, but it still moves on the sowing and harvest cycle, government procurement and support prices, buffer-stock releases and export policy. A change in support price or an export ban can reset the whole milling wheat market at once.
Rates are usually per quintal at wholesale. The min-max band reflects moisture, foreign matter and grade — clean, dry, well-graded stock sits at the top of the range. Because grain keeps, the six-month trend chart is more meaningful here than any single day's quote. On this page, rates are quoted per kg.
Watch the gap between harvest-season lows and lean-season highs: that seasonal spread, visible in the trend, is often wider than the day-to-day movement.
