Cotton is among the most volatile prices in this dataset, as most vegetables are. It swings with the monsoon and harvest calendar, cold-storage availability, fuel-driven transport costs and how well a perishable crop travelled to market — a glut at peak harvest can halve the cotton rate within weeks, and unseasonal rain can double it.
Rates are usually quoted per quintal (100 kg) at wholesale mandis, so a wholesale figure sits well below the retail price you pay per kilogram. The min-max band on each row is the arrival-quality spread on the day — fresh, firm produce at the top, older or bruised stock at the bottom. On this page, rates are quoted per kg.
