Russian Blue
An elegant silver-blue cat with green eyes — quiet, gentle and reserved with strangers.
How to spot it
A fine-boned, graceful cat 3–5.5 kg with a short, dense, plush double coat in an even blue-grey tipped with silver, giving a shimmering sheen, and vivid green eyes. A slight upturn to the mouth gives a permanent gentle "smile".
Personality
Gentle, quiet and loyal to its family but genuinely shy with strangers, often hiding when visitors come. Once it trusts you it is devoted and playful; it likes routine and dislikes upheaval.
Grooming & coat care
The dense double coat is easy — a weekly brush keeps it plush — and the breed is a light shedder.
Health & lifespan
Often 15–20 years and generally very healthy; the main risk is weight gain, as it loves its food, so measure the meals.
Living with one in India
The short plush coat copes reasonably with warmth in a cool indoor home. The bigger point is temperament: this is a sensitive, routine-loving cat that needs a calm household and quiet introductions, not a noisy, chaotic one.
