As soon as the summer comes, the number of sick sheep and goats increases rapidly. In such a situation, the problems of small farmers and cattle herders also increase considerably. In view of this, IVRI scientists have described pulses, especially moong dal, as much better for the health of sheep and goats. It was found that the sheep and goats which continuously eat moong dal straw as fodder are healthier than the animals which eat paddy and wheat straw.
After harvesting the wheat crop, the fields of most of the farmers in the district remain empty for two months. Presently moong crop is not sown in the district. While moong cultivation is suitable for local conditions. In this case, immediately after the wheat crop, moong dal can be sown.
Farmers and cattle herders will be made aware to cultivate moong dal. With this, farmers will be able to increase their income. At the same time, sheep and goats will also get good nutrition.
